VIDEO
Upcoming
Workshop Objectives
- Prioritize donors based on a clear matrix by placing them into 4 categories.
- Identify a top 10 list of priority donors (category: “Rock Stars”).
- Make collective decisions based on data, not on gut feeling.
Practical Organization
Duration: Half-day (3 hours).
Participants: Same team as the previous steps.
Facilitation:
- 1 facilitator: Manages time, discussions, and moves the workshop forward.
- 1 note-taker: Tracks key data and fills in the matrix.
Materials:
- In-person: Whiteboard, sticky notes, pens, timer.
- Online: Collaborative tool (Miro, Mural, Google Jamboard) + shared PowerPoint.
Workshop outline
Step 1: Method Recap
Support: Use the provided PowerPoint as your guide.
Step 2: Recreate the Matrix
2 options:
- In-person: Draw the matrix on a whiteboard.
- Online: Use the blank slide in the PowerPoint.
Step 3: Identify Donors
Instructions:
- Use the list of donors from your mapping. Pre-sort if necessary: Keep current donors but exclude those already identified as irrelevant (“dead weight”).
- 1 sticky note (or digital cell) = 1 donor.
Step 4: Position the Donors
Process for each donor:
- The facilitator recaps the key data (mapping).
- The group discusses and agrees on the positioning.
- The note-taker places the sticky note on the matrix.
Tips:
- Start with current donors (easier to evaluate).
- Base decisions on data: No “gut feeling” decisions!
- “I don’t really like this donor” → not a valid argument.
- “According to the mapping, alignment is low and funding is high → Cash Cow.”
